A woman was arrested after an alleged attack in San Rafael, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened Tuesday near the intersection of North San Pedro Road and Schmidt Lane in the Santa Venetia neighborhood. The alleged victim reported that the suspect screamed at her, punched her face and attempted to pull her to the ground, said sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn.
The women fell down and separated, and the suspect left. Deputies found the suspect at her home. The suspect claimed the victim was rude to her, Schermerhorn said. The suspect also allegedly tried to hit the deputies.
Carol Jean Furnell, 76, was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of battery causing serious bodily injury and resisting a public officer. Her bail amount was set at $50,000, and she remained in custody Wednesday.
