In my humble opinion, the shoes make the outfit. Sneakers are great both for getting around in comfort and for mixing into your dressier outfits. I love to mix sneakers with maxi dresses, skirts, and suits!
Here are eight of our team’s tried and true favorite sneakers.
1. adidas Originals Stan Smith Sneakers
Recommended by: Kate
$100
These shoes were everywhere in 2015 and I still think they’re a classic!
Fit: TTS
2. Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Move High Top Platform Sneakers
Recommended by: Nancy, Executive Assistant
$75
I wore these on a recent trip to Toronto, walking multiple miles every single day. They are so comfortable!
Fit: TTS
3. Reebok Club C 85 Vintage Sneakers
Recommended by: Greta, Content Creator
$90
These are the most comfortable shoes I own. I genuinely could wear them all day and my feet wouldn’t get sore. For being as flat as they are, they are quite supportive!
Fit: TTS
4. VEJA V-10 Sneakers
Recommended by: Carolyn, Graphic Designer
$175
These VEJAs are the only sneakers I wear and I can’t recommend them enough! This is especially so if you’re a minimalist and looking for a non-athletic brand option. I love that they go with everything without feeling *too* basic. I can say mine are holding up great after months of wear, which includes two weeks of walking around Europe in them!
Fit: TTS
5. Brandblack Specter SC 2.0 Sneakers
Recommended by: Kate
$180
These were a gift from Joe for Christmas. The brand’s sneakers as a whole combine unexpected colors and include cool details too. I love the exposed foam on the tongue and the fact that they come a little pre-distressed on the soles—it gives them a unique, tone-on-tone look.
Fit: They run slightly small.
6. New Balance 237 Sneakers
Recommended by: Jackie, Editorial Director
$80
I’d heard great things about these sneakers online and decided to give them a try. First and foremost, they are super comfortable—I wear them on long walks and bike rides around town. I also love how easy they are to style up or down. Plus, they come in lots of fun color combos. I’m thinking of ordering a second pair!
Fit: TTS. I also appreciate the width—it’s not narrow which is an issue I sometimes have when ordering shoes online.
7. VEJA Esplar Sneakers
Recommended by: Greta
$150
I have had these for four or five years and they have held up super well. The quality is amazing, and if you are wanting a sustainably made sneaker, this brand is one of the best options IMO. The sneakers come in so many color options and will never go out of style!
Fit: TTS. VEJA takes a bit of breaking in because the leather is on the stiffer side, but once they’ve been broken in they are very very comfortable!
8. Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Slip Sneakers
Recommended by: Bridgette, Brand Director
$55
I’ve worn Converse All Star sneakers for years. They’re such a classic and easy to style with just about everything.
Fit: They fit a little big in my experience and need a bit of time to break in.
