Who won Olympic golf in 2024? Scores, results as Scottie Scheffler wins gold medal in debut

In his first Olympic experience, Scottie Scheffler proved why he is ranked as the world’s No. 1 golfer.

Scheffler finished with a final score of 19-under, following an impressive 9-under final round, to collect the gold medal for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics at Le Golf National on Sunday. Scheffler can now add that to the green jacket he won at the Masters Tournament earlier this year.

The 27-year-old Scheffler was the first No. 1 player in the world to enter the Olympics and walk away with the gold medal, per the Golf Channel broadcast. Scheffler made nine total birdies in the final round and, most importantly, did not have a bogey. He held off Great Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood for the gold medal. Fleetwood needed a birdie on his 18th hole to tie Scheffler and force a playoff.

Scheffler started his day with three straight birdies but finished with pars the rest of the front nine. He carded two more birdies on Holes 10 and 12 before entering the 14th hole at 5-under for the round and sixth on the leaderboard. He then caught fire, making four straight birdies between the 14th and 17th holes to take the lead entering his final hole.
