The best all-inclusive resorts have something for everyone, and this adults-only property in Jamaica just added a private-island experience if you want to ditch the crowds.
For those seeking extra privacy, the Caribbean-based Blue Diamond Resorts has launched a new offshore private-island retreat at the Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters in Montego Bay. Part of the Autograph Collection, the oceanfront hotel opened its doors in November 2023, complete with 352 rooms, 11 bars, and a whopping 12 different restaurants. Now the luxury retreat is inviting guests to enjoy an exclusive, intimate escape on a 111-square-foot secluded islet that only those who book the Diamond Club suite category can access.
For those who opt for the Diamond Club add-on, you’ll be treated like a VIP from check-in, where you’ll be introduced to a personal butler and treated to a bottle of sparkling wine. Additional perks include nightly turndown service, access to a private swimming pool, priority reservations for restaurants, and a one-hour hydrotherapy session. Of course, the main attraction is the private island—a sanctuary surrounded by some of the clearest turquoise waters. However, the only catch is that you can’t really stay on it for long but rather book it for the day for, say, a special celebration or romantic outing.
The only “civilization” to speak of on the islet comes in the form of four beachside cabanas which can be reserved from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. But that’s just the jumping off point. From here, you can choose to totally customize the experience with a curated menu of authentic Jamaican cuisine, specialty craft cocktails, and even live music performances. Think a catered lunch with jerk chicken, grilled salmon, beef patties, and bottles of Appleton Estate 8-Year-Old Reserve delivered directly to your cabana.
If you somehow get tired of eating, drinking, and chilling, you can always pamper yourself with a 20-minute neck and back massage from the Royal Spa. On the other hand, cold towels infused with tropical aromatherapy fragrances are a given. And when you book a seven-night stay in the resort’s swanky Diamond Club Chairman Beach Walk Out Swim Out suite, you automatically get complimentary access to the private island. Otherwise, the islet is open to Diamond Club guests who reserve at least five nights.
