What Do Ineos Do At Manchester United Now?

The clamour for EtH to be sacked will surely now start to resonate with even the most patient Manchester United supporters and whilst EtH must shoulder some of the responsibility, I saw many of the same players shirking tackles, not tracking back, playing without the desired hunger, intensity and seemingly unable to execute even the most simple of passes once again. We’ve seen this before!

As EtH seeks shelter from the bullets and vitriol, he single handedly bears the burden and weight of expectation for the entire Club, but what of Ineos, that during the summer conducted a full and comprehensive strategic review of all football operations and specifically EtH’s position?

Whilst supporters complain about a lack of coaching, playing style and recruitment, Ineos completed their review, which took several weeks and decided EtH was fit for purpose. They then appointed RVN, Rene Hake and were heavily involved in all the summer recruitment.

There is no longer a banker in charge of making football decisions, but a committee of supposedly highly skilled and experienced experts conducting strategic reviews. What does this say about their competence?

De Ligt, Mazraoui, Zirkzee all either Dutch or have played for EtH previously, as is RVN and Rene Hake. Coincidence? Who knows? But the inconvenient truth for many is this is now a collective effort which does not reflect particularly well on anyone!

Do Ineos admit they got it wrong less than a month into their first season?, having spent several weeks conducting their strategic review. Or do they protect a manager they decided to keep and shoulder some of the responsibility?

Rashford and Bruno have just been rewarded bumper new contracts, they will still have to feature even if the Club appoints a new manager! As will many of the players that have featured for EtH previously! It’s a long list!

From whatever angle you view this debacle it doesn’t look good. Sack EtH, who replaces him? RVN, already at the Club and one can only assume his ideas and philosophy is closely aligned to EtH. The same can be said for Rene Hake? Or do they sack them both, along with EtH, less than a month into the season?

RVN and Hake have not even been at the Club three months! And who do they turn? Tuchel was considered and rejected in the summer (who rejected who is open to conjecture), Poch and De Zerbi are now unavailable? Southgate? No thanks!

I can only assume Ineos will be praying for a change in fortune, a reason to carry on, not only to justify their decision in the summer to stick with EtH, but his dismissal will also have dire financial consequences for the Club. The summer tells us they will not rush into a decision, they will take their time and consider the implications. During that time they will be hoping things might just change, for the better of course. The next decision may just define their tenure!
