Former President Donald Trump praised a crude and sexist remark one of his rally attendees made Saturday in North Carolina about Vice President Kamala Harris.
While Trump was ranting about how he believes, without evidence, that Harris lied about working at McDonald’s in college, someone in the audience yelled out, “She worked on a corner,” implying Harris was a sex worker.
Trump stopped speaking and laughed before pointing at the crowd.
“This place is amazing,” he said to cheers. “Just remember, it’s other people saying it. It’s not me.”
According to Harris’ campaign, while she was a college student at Howard University, she worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, California, during the summer of 1983. Still, Trump doesn’t believe it, having expressed his skepticism last month during a campaign stop at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, where he cooked fries and handed out food in the drive-thru.
Throughout his campaign, Trump and his supporters have waged sexist attacks against Harris. In July, Trump said if Harris is elected, she would be “like a play toy” with world leaders. Last week, the former president’s supporters paid for a billboard in Ohio of a fake photo showing Harris about to engage in a sex act, along with text that read, “Kamala can’t talk right now. She’s at a baby shower.” The billboard was removed.
