Serious grill masters may scoff at the sound of this, but what if AI could help you with your barbecue skills?
That’s the premise behind the punnily named start-up Brisk It’s products, the latest of which is a smoker with generative AI that it unveiled at CES this week. The Zelos 450 is an electric wood-pellet grill with 450 square inches of cooking space, plus artificial-intelligence features and Wi-Fi connectivity, the Verge reported. Retailing for $400, it’s more affordable than some of the brand’s other grills, which start at $850.
As a standard grill, the Zelos 450 can accommodate both slow cooking and high-heat grilling, the Verge noted, thanks to a temperature range of 180 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. But beyond that, it includes a host of features that will bring all the technological advancements of your smart home into your backyard, too.
Brisk It says its Vera AI can “monitor, control, and automate the cook for you,” according to the Verge. Via an app, the grill will send you notifications that alert you to the progress of your meat, reminding you when it’s time to do things like wrap ribs or spritz them with water. If you miss those reminders or ignore them, the grill will automatically adjust its temperature to ensure that your meal remains edible. For those of you who multitask while your brisket’s in the smoker, it sounds like a pretty handy feature.
Beyond ensuring that grilled meats come out as close to perfect as possible, the Vera 2.0 version can help you come up with new recipes. A Smart Image Recognition feature allows you to take photos of ingredients, for which it then creates a meal, the Verge wrote. And if you already have a favorite recipe that you want some of the Zelos’s help with, Recipe Re-creation lets you take that recipe and turn it into one that the grill can automatically cook.
The grill that Brisk It debuted at CES is just a preview for now. But at some point this quarter, it’ll become available to the public via the company’s website as well as at stores such as the Home Depot, Walmart, and more. Thankfully, that gives you ample time to get familiar with your new smoker before the grilling season really heats up this summer.
