President-elect Donald Trump achieved an extraordinary comeback in the 2024 election, having lost his reelection bid in 2020. But he’s not the only political leader — past or present — to be elected for nonconsecutive terms. Several have stunned the world by clawing their way back to power from scandal, jail time or crushing defeats. But their comebacks have not always panned out as planned.
