What a first half of the Super Bowl for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Even when things went wrong, they went right.

Eagles receiver A.J. Brown and head coach Nick Sirianni got heated on the sideline late in the first half after a failed conversion on third down, even as Philadelphia held a 17-0 lead. But it didn’t take them long to make up.

On third-and-3 from midfield, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts underthrew Brown after Brown broke free of coverage down the left sideline. The miss resulted in an Eagles punt on the ensuing fourth-down. It also led to Brown jawing with head coach Nick Sirianni on the sideline.

It’s not clear why Brown and Sirianni were upset with each other. It was Hurts who underthrew Brown. Nevertheless, the pair had a moment that wasn’t the first instance of drama season featuring Brown or Sirianni.

But bygones quickly became bygones.

Eagles linebacker Zack Baun intercepted Patrick Mahomes on the ensuing Chiefs possession, setting up the Brown-Sirianni drama to come full circle. Two plays after the turnover, Hurts hit a wide open Brown for a touchdown to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 24-0.

And all was well once again on Philadelphia’s sideline.

Almost certainly aware that cameras were on him, Brown picked up his sideline copy of “Inner Excellence,” the book that went viral after he was seen reading it on the bench during Green Bay’s wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers.

As he did, Sirianni walked over to share a considerably more cordial moment with his star receiver.

A 24-0 halftime lead at the Super Bowl goes a long way in solving sideline spats.
