Ukraine’s State Emergency Services reported a Russian drone attack targeted energy infrastructure in the Ukrainian city of Odesa overnight.
Four people were injured in a Russian drone attack on the Black Sea port city of Odesa late on Monday, according to the city’s governor Oleh Kiper.
“Four people were injured as a result of the Russian attack. … Doctors are providing everyone with the necessary assistance,” Kiper said on Telegram.
Three residents of private houses sustained shrapnel wounds and broken limbs. They were hospitalised in moderate condition.
Another person, who was in a business centre at the time of the attack, sustained a concussion.
Footage from Ukraine’s emergency services showed firefighters trying to put out multiple blazes.
Kiper said the strike also damaged energy infrastructure, leading to power outages in parts of the city.
Sumy, in the country’s northeast, was also struck in the early hours of Tuesday, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
It said a strike sparked a fire at a children’s health facility, but no injuries were reported.
The strikes come after US President Donald Trump on Monday announced the US would be halting military assistance to Ukraine in a bid to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to engage in negotiations to end the war with Russia.
Speaking in his nightly video address on Monday, Zelenskyy said Ukraine, Europe and United states must speed up diplomacy to ensure the war ends with a lasting peace.
He has argued that any peace deal should come with security guarantees to prevent Russia from invading the Ukraine again.
