I Back Ruben Amorim At Manchester United

So for the last 5-10 years on manchesterunitedrumours.co.uk, and social media as well, I’ve constantly seen criticism of the Manchester United players and how they throw management under the bus.

Yet now it’s Ruben Amorim’s fault and I’m even seeing comments on here saying he’s not fit to manage in the Premier League. It’s laughable. Liverpool didn’t bring him in because they’ve felt they had a better option to fit their squad. Clearly he’s capable if they strongly considered him.

Us on the other hand, we don’t have a squad capable of finishing in the top half of the league. Look at it objectively, we’ve a goalkeeper who can’t stop chucking them in the net. We’ve a mess of a defensive unit with only one or two capable of actually running and playing higher up the pitch. Mazraoui and Dorgu look capable. that’s about it for the full backs.

Move into midfield, where’s the power, the engine, the technical quality? We have to play our best creator deep to be able to try and string an attack together. Ugarte is a decent player but should only really be a squad player. Mainoo has huge talent but looked burnt out at the very start of the season and has suffered with injury. Had some good games against City, Arsenal and Liverpool away, but that’s it. Casemiro is done, as is Eriksen. Oh, and there’s the lesser spotted Mason Mount. That’s not a midfield really capable of playing any system.

Then you move up the pitch to our attacking options. Two strikers (who he didn’t sign) who wouldn’t score in a brothel. We’ve a winger in Garnacho who’s more interested in being the reason why the team wins than being part of a winning team. Amad who was playing very well is injured for the season. There’s no creativity there and little pace. I like that he’s starting to throw Obi in, it’s a different option.

Before people throw Rashford in and comment on that as seems to be the way online these days, the damage between Rashford and the club has been done for a long time. If he didn’t go in January, it would’ve been July. He wasn’t doing much when he was here and seemed like he wanted away. Best for both parties.

So ultimately forget talk about systems, it’s pointless. It’s a poorly built squad capable of very little cohesive football. What would folk rather, back the manager who’s had say 6 months working with these players and knows exactly who he can bring with him or who needs to go?

Or would you rather sack him and get someone in who has 6 weeks to judge the players in pre season when that’s a short window to judge them and we end up a few making a short term impression and we never properly kick start any plan?

Personally, I’m backing him and swallowing my own pride about where we I think we should be, because we are a million miles off it and I don’t see how you can make forward strides without committing to a plan.
