Alinea’s magical mystery tour is gearing up for its next stop: Miami.
The second leg of the Michelin three-star restaurant’s 20th anniversary journey around America will see Grant Achatz and his team set up shop at the luxury hotel Faena in Miami April 30 to May 25. After selling out its month-long residency at Brooklyn’s Olmsted in just three hours, Alinea is opening reservations for its South Beach sessions starting today, and tickets are expected to go fast. (Disclosure: Robb Report is a media partner for Alinea’s anniversary tour.)
This isn’t the first time Alinea has moved operations to Faena. Back in 2016, when the Chicago restaurant underwent a big renovation, it served dinners in Madrid and Miami, with Faena as its South Florida landing spot. The residency will coincide with Miami F1, so there may be some activations in the works as race fans from around the world descend on the Magic City for the grand prix being held May 2 to 4. Apart from that weekend, this tour stop is part of Alinea and Achatz’s efforts to connect with friends around the industry to celebrate the restaurant’s 20th birthday.

“Over the years, we have had the privilege of working with an incredible team, building strong relationships with farmers, purveyors, and winemakers, and forging lasting friendships with industry peers around the world,” Achatz told Robb Report when the tour was first announced. “We are grateful for the journey, and what better way to celebrate than by bringing the Alinea experience to new cities and sharing it with our loyal guests, while also inspiring our team and reconnecting with industry friends and partners.”
The Brooklyn residency, which begins this week, is at the restaurant of celebrated Alinea alum Greg Baxtrom, who has been at the helm of his hit restaurant Olmsted since 2016. This will be the first time Alinea has popped up in New York City, and the dinner will be a mix of the restaurant’s enduring classics from its two-decade history (expect some food that floats) and new experiences created specifically for the Olmsted space. Alinea will similarly fit its experience to the Faena space, merging its molecular gastronomy with Miami ingredients and culture.
So if you’ll be in the 305 this May and want to catch Alinea in a new setting, tickets are available now on Tock.
