Check out Stockton's historic representation throughout the Olympic Games

The world’s best athletes will gather in Paris this year all in the hopes of representing their country and bringing home gold during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

San Joaquin County is crawling with Olympic athletes who represent the 209, joining the many athletes who have competed over the thousands of years that the Olympic Games have been around.

This year’s games will feature basketball legend and St. Mary’s girls’ basketball alum Chelsea Gray who will compete on the USA Basketball Women’s National Team. From basketball to swimming, the Stockton area is filled with some of the world’s best athletes.

Here is a list of those who competed in the Olympic Games in the past ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony on July 26.

Sport: Shooting

Country: USA

Notes: Competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics in the 25m pistol event.

Kyra Christmas

Sport: Water polo

Country: Canada

Notes: Competed in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. She is originally from Canada but attended the University of the Pacific.
