Arsenal transfer plans confirmed with updates regarding 4 possible options

Direction of Arsenal’s midfielder pursuit confirmed: Latest on Guimarães & Juventus midfielder ‘discussed’

Update on Bruno Guimarães interest

Arsenal continues to push in January when it comes to striking business for further first-team assets under Mikel Arteta, and links with Olympique Lyonnais’ standout Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães have been clarified.

Via Fabrizio Romano, the feeling now is that Arsenal ‘appreciate’ the former Athletico Paranaense standout, but do not list him among the names discussed as a potential transfer option this month, with Arteta willing to spend to improve before the summer.

Additionally, the club is also said to have ‘discussed’ the possibility of maneuvering a loan deal for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo after the 25-year-old Brazilian and former Barcelona man has registered a paltry 399-minutes of playing time across ten combined appearances in Serie A and the Champions League under Massimiliano Allegri this season.

The Brazilian pair are just two players recently connected with a possible move to north London, with Arteta’s shortlist of preferred targets said to include three names, though none were unveiled by Italian journalist Romano.

Arsenal linked with another Brazilian

With news that Arsenal continues to seek a solution that ends in a secured deal for Fiorentina’s Serbian starlet Dušan Vlahović, many Gunners fans get the feeling that Arteta is planning in January for not just a continued top-four push this season, but an assault on Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool in 2022-23.

But with the midfield remaining light after Ainsley Maitland-Niles was loaned to AS Roma after Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey departed for AFCON duty with Egypt and Ghana respectively, reports in Brazil suggested that the Gunners were angling a play for Palmeiras midfielder Danilo.

It has become evident that, though interest in Vlahović is abundantly clear, the need for a central midfielder may well supersede a deal for the former FK Partizan striker.

However, if Arsenal is able to pull off two moves this month and secure both options, they certainly will look to do so.
