Barcelona’s January transfer window
Barcelona announced their first major transfer of the winter window at the back end of December.
Barcelona signed Spanish international Ferran Torres from Manchester City for a reported initial €55m, with another €10m in installments:
Ferrán Torres deal now completed. 🌟🇪🇸 #FCB
Barça will pay €55m guaranteed plus €10m in installments.
Man City accepted to sell only because Ferrán asked to move back to Spain.
Xavi was key as he called Ferrán many times and he only wanted him.

Despite only just being able to register Torres after Samuel Umtit signed a new contract with lower wages, Barcelona have continued to be linked with more players, including Juventus’ Alvaro Morata:
Il sì di #Morata al #Barça è totale: 18 mesi di contratto garantiti. La palla passa ora alla #Juve che, ovviamente, per liberare il centravanti spagnolo deve prima trovare un sostituto 🔥🇪🇸 @Goalitalia

On the outings front, meanwhile, Barcelona have loaned Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa for the rest of the 2021/22 season.
Barcelona ready bid for centre-back
La Blaugrana do not look to be done, there, however.
Reports coming out of Italy suggest that Barcelona are readying a bid for a centre-back.
Given Gerard Pique is past his best and Samuel Umtiti is still suffering with persistent injury issues, a move for another centre-back does make sense.
But who is the man in question? According to Goal, citing Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, that man is Lisandro Martinez of Ajax. With Goal going as far as to claim that Barcelona are readying a bid for the stopper.
The 23-year-old is a regular feature for Ajax and has notched 107 appearances for them to date.
