It really has been a rollercoaster of a season. Most Rangers fans wanted rid of Philippe Clement (PC) and the club finally acted to remove him. There wasn’t a line of experienced managers knocking at the door to take over the reins until the end of the season, so Patrick Stewart (PS) I believe with obviously the backing of many at the club offered the interim manager’s job to Barry Ferguson and they told him to get a team together at very short notice. Barry answered that call, 📞 got a coaching team together and came straight in.
Barry and his team under the circumstances have done the best they can, especially given his inexperience managing a club the size of Rangers Football club. Yet many on the rangersrumours.co.uk site complain about him daily, that his inexperience is so bad he shouldn’t be near Rangers FC, yet PS and co., who initially offered him the role to start with don’t get a mention.
He may be inexperienced, but PS and co. know exactly what they’re doing and know who they offered the role to, so who’s to blame? The fact many say Barry won’t be here come the summer knowing fine well the league was lost well before he came in, yet make a song and dance about his tactics, formations and player positions etc.
Let me take you all back; It appears that a number of players stopped playing for PC by not carrying out his instructions from training on to the pitch during live games. Some players at some point apparently went behind PC’s back, which led to PC losing his job. Certain players who we have seen all season let our club down, let the fans down whilst picking up their decent hefty checks.
Many had us beat against Athletic Bilbao (AB) before the game, yet we grind out a 0-0 draw with 10 men and ended the game with 9 men, with Barry screaming and shouting from the sidelines trying to get every ounce of fight from them.
Today with the game against Aberdeen, many Rangers supporters wanted players rested as the league is gone to save players for Europa League quarter-final second leg against AB. Barry does just that and yet some fans are still not happy and complain about players out of position and the wrong formation implemented etc.
Yet this is a manager who lacks experience, but is expected to make every decision the correct one? He’s only here until summer so what’s some people’s problem. He’s doing his best and we’re still in a tie in Europe that few beforehand expected us to be in with a group of players most deem not good enough and not worthy of still being at the club.
And as I said, it wasn’t fans who hired Barry, but PS with the backing I’m sure of many behind the scenes. Guys who know exactly what they were doing and what they were getting. Given the circumstances, this season we’re lucky to be still be in Europe.
By the looks of it, Barry won’t be here much longer. He answered the call doing his inexperienced best, so maybe some fans should get off his back as this is the same squad who practically haven’t performed in the league all season!
Danilo, Cortes, Bajarami, Jefté, Diomande all not good enough. That’s what I’ve read today and over the last few months, but they weren’t brought in by Barry and co. Has Nils Koppen and whoever else, got the credentials to get it right this summer or will we just see more of the same next season?
Will fans be saying, they need time to bed in, need time to gel as they’re not suited to our league, but they’re still class players. Time will tell, but think everyone just needs to get off Barry’s back as no one else was obviously coming in for a few months and he’s doing well so far getting past Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce team who were no mugs and he’s also done well grinding out the draw with AB in the first leg.
With so little time and not his team, he’s done alright given he’s managing a bunch who mostly don’t seem to care.
