New Jersey bettors may finally have a wide range of wagering options on horse racing at their fingertips.
An agreement that paves the way for NYRA Bets to become the managing vendor of New Jersey’s online and mobile pari-mutual account wagering system was announced Tuesday, with the deal expected to open the New Jersey market to multiple advance deposit wagering (ADW) platforms.
The agreement between Darby Development LLC, acting as an agent for the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, and NYRA Bets must still be approved by the New Jersey Racing Commission. Darby Development, which operates Monmouth Park, has managed the state’s account wagering system.
The plan is for NYRA Bets, the New York Racing Association’s ADW platform, to be available in New Jersey later this year, with NYRA Bets now available in 36 states. Currently, 4NJBets, operated by TVG, is the only option for bettors in New Jersey, with 4NJBets to continue as one of the online and mobile wagering site in the state.

“This is a win for the patrons in New Jersey, allowing them to have choices for the first time as to which site they prefer to wager with,” said Dennis Drazin, chairman and CEO of Darby Development. “It’s another step in our ongoing effort to make the racing experience in New Jersey as fan-friendly as we possibly can.”
NYRA Bets is in its first year as the sponsor of the $1 million Haskell Stakes, to be run Saturday at Monmouth Park, with Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch heading the field.
