Bringing the Bay State to Paris: These 16 Olympic athletes hail from Massachusetts

Friday marks the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

With the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and the Seine River, athletes from across the world are gearing up to compete on the biggest stage of all.

The United States of America will represent with some of the greatest athletes of all time. Among the best in the country are 16 athletes that hail from Massachusetts. These are the local athletes that are going for gold in France.

Eli Dershwitz, Fencing

The Sherborn native that graduated from Dover-Sherborn Regional and Harvard University is competing in his third Olympic games.

Alexandra Hammel, Field Hockey

Hammel, a Duxbury High and Boston University alum, will be participating as a member of the USA Olympic field hockey team.

Maragaret Hedeman, Rowing

The Concord native attended Concord-Carlisle High and graduated from Yale University in 2023.

Henry Hollingsworth, Rowing

The first-time Olympian is from Dover. He attended Brooks School and Brown University.

Madison Hughes, Rugby

The Lancaster native attended high school in England at Wellington College before returning to the states to compete at Dartmouth College. This will be Hughes’ third Olympic games.

Kirsten Kasper, Triathlon

The triathlete is from North Andover and attended North Andover High School and Georgetown University.

Kristi Kirshe, Rugby

The second-time Olympian went to Franklin High School and then attended Williams College, where she actually played collegiate soccer.

Ada Korkhin, Shooting

Korkhin is competing in her first Olympic Games. She is from Brookline and attended Brookline High School. She is part of Ohio State University’s class of 2027.

Daisy Mazzio-Manson, Rowing

Wellesley native Mazzio-Manson attended Newton Country Day School, then Yale University and graduated in 2020.

Jennifer Mucino-Fernandez, Archery

Mucino-Fernandez was born in Boston but grew up in Mexico City. She competed in the 2020 Olympic Games and is back for her second Olympic appearance.

Ruby Remati, Artistic Swimming

The Andover native is competing in her first Olympics. She attended Laurel Springs School and is now a member of the Ohio State University class of 2026.

Fred Richard, Gymnastics

The Stoughton High School graduate is a member of the University of Michigan class of 2026 gymnastics team.

Miles Robinson, Soccer

Robinson is a graduate of Arlington High School and Syracuse University.

Regina Salmons, Rowing

The Methuen native attended Derryfield School before graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. Paris will be her second Olympics, as she competed in 2020 Tokyo Games.

Gabby Thomas, Track and Field

Thomas is an alum of The Williston Northampton School and Harvard University. She competed in the 2020 Olympic Games where she earned a silver and a bronze medal.

Kristi Wagner, Rowing

The Weston native, alum of Weston High School and Yale University ’15, competed in the 2020 Olympic Games.
