PARIS (AP) — Ysaora Thibus, one of France’s leading fencers, has been selected to compete at the Paris Olympics after escaping a disciplinary sanction from the International Fencing Federation over an abnormal doping test.
The French fencing federation said on Saturday that Thibus was included in the women’s foil team alongside Pauline Ranvier, Eva Lacheray and alternate Anita Blaze.
Thibus was provisionally suspended in February. She argued that she had tested positive for the anabolic substance ostarine after being contaminated accidentally by her partner and was later cleared of wrongdoing.
Thibus then injured her left knee in June but recovered in time to make the team.
Thibus is a three-time Olympian and won the team foil silver medal at the last Olympics in Tokyo. She was the individual world champion in foil in 2022.
