The San Francisco 49ers pulled out a tight 23-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but it came amid rising tensions on the sideline.
49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was seen grabbing the neck of long snapper Taybor Pepper and jawing with Pepper and kicker Jake Moody after Moody’s third missed field goal of the afternoon:
“Just a high-emotion game,” Pepper said afterward, downplaying the incident. “Football’s high emotion, Jake was having a little rough patch there. (I was) standing up for Jake, because there was still time on the clock.”
Moody did hit the game-winning field goal as San Francisco pulled off an ugly 23-20 win, but also missed from 49, 50 and 44 yards out. The 2023 third-round pick has struggled at times in his NFL career, and he apparently caught the ire of one of the 49ers’ best players.
We’ll see if hitting the winner changes the mood much.
