Black Widow star Florence Pugh shares a funny story about her mom getting high with renowned marijuana enthusiast Snoop Dogg at the 2020 Oscars.
Black Widow star Florence Pugh says her mom got high with Snoop Dogg at the 2020 Oscars. Pugh plays Yelena Belova, a sister figure, protégé, and fellow super assassin to Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming film. Pugh’s role in the MCU will extend beyond Johansson’s swan song as she’s already signed on to appear in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
As Phase 4 of the MCU continues to expand in scope, scale, and popularity, it’s no surprise to see talent like Pugh join its ranks. The actress’s stock has risen exponentially in the past few years thanks to roles in Lady Macbeth, Fighting with My Family, Midsommar, and Little Women. The latter earned her a nomination for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2020. That said, Pugh had some interesting stories to share from that awards ceremony and the parties that came with it.

Pugh recently made a remote appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week to promote Black Widow. During the interview, she talked about bringing her parents, who she described as “characters,” to the 2020 Academy Awards. Apparently, her dad befriended the likes of Noel Gallagher and Renée Zellweger during Oscar season while her mom chatted up Kate Hudson. At one point, Pugh’s mom disappeared for hours after running into renowned marijuana enthusiast Snoop Dogg. Check out what Pugh had to say about finding her mom below.
“My mom suddenly comes crawling from somewhere – she’s holding onto banisters and doors. And I’m like, ‘Mama, are you ok?’ and she’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m just,” and I’m like, ‘What happened?’ and she goes, ‘No, no, I’m just, I’ve been hanging out with Snoop Dog.’ So my mom got high with Snoop Dogg!”
Pugh’s parents will likely meet more of Hollywood’s A-list following the release of Black Widow. The film was originally supposed to kick off the 2020 summer movie season but was repeatedly pushed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will finally hit theaters and Disney+ Premier Access on July 9, cementing Pugh’s place as one of the biggest and most exciting stars of the moment.
Aside from the funny Snoop Dogg story, Pugh was expectedly tight-lipped about her role in Black Widow, which takes place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. However, with Johansson’s time as Black Widow at an end, at least in the present-day MCU, it’s possible Pugh will take over the moniker in upcoming projects. Not only does Pugh appear to have a bright future in the MCU, she just wrapped filming on Olivia Wilde’s highly anticipated film Don’t Worry Darling. It seems likely the Black Widow star will have amusing stories for years to come about her parents interacting with fellow celebrities.
