Hannah Roberts wins fifth consecutive BMX freestyle world title

American Hannah Roberts won a fifth consecutive world title in BMX freestyle, prevailing in Abu Dhabi.

Roberts, eighth at the Paris Olympics, would have won Saturday’s event with either of her two final runs: a 95.70-point first run and a 94.58-point second run.

Chinese riders took spots two through six. Paris Olympic gold medalist Deng Yawen was not in the field.

Roberts has won six of the seven world championships contested in BMX freestyle, which made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games (where Roberts took silver).

In Saturday’s men’s event, Australian Logan Martin earned his third world title to go along with his gold medal from the Tokyo Olympics.

American Justin Dowell took bronze, giving him a complete set of world championships medals.
