How Prince William showed ‘commitment’ to Kate Middleton with first-ever jewellery gift

The ring was an incredibly romantic gesture, with Kate’s birthstone being garnet and William’s being pearl.

And Kate opted to wear the ring for her graduation in 2005 when the couple would leave behind the St Andrews chapter of their love story.

Leading jewellery experts at Steven Stone said: “This ring is no doubt very sentimental and while Kate has a very high value jewellery collection, this piece is priceless.

“From the design, it looks to be from the Victorian era, from the late 1800s, most likely set on a 15-carat gold band, which is what they used at the time.
