Tokyo medallists Kellie Harrington and Aidan Walsh are among the 10 fighters named by Team Ireland for the Olympic Games in Paris.

Ireland will field boxers in all female categories in the competition, which takes place from the 27 July–10 August.

Arena Paris Nord will host the preliminary rounds while the semi-finals and the finals will be held in the Rolland Garros Stadium.

“I’m heading out for my second Olympic Games and I can’t wait,” said Harrington, who won gold three years ago in Tokyo.

“It’s a big team, we have 10 boxers, which is fantastic. The biggest difference between Tokyo and this Olympics is that there will be people in the crowd, and with that a lot of noise, so it will be all about us controlling our emotions.

“I’m glad to be part of history, as this will be the 100th year that Team Ireland has competed in the Olympic Games.”

Belfast light-middleweight Walsh will be joined in Paris by his sister Michaela and Newtownstewart’s Jude Gallagher.
