The 2024 Summer Olympics are just a few weeks away with trials set for multiple sports. One of the more high-profile athletes looking to make their debut in the games is track and field athlete Sha’Carri Richardson.

Richardson was set for her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021 after finishing first in the 100 meters. She was later disqualified for testing positive for marijuana and did not compete for Team USA due to her one-month suspension.

“I want to take responsibility for my actions,” she said on NBC after the disqualification. “I know what I did. I know what I’m supposed to do. I know what I’m allowed not to do, and I still made that decision.”

Will Sha’Carri Richardson run in the Olympics?

She’s a heavy favorite to make the Olympic team in the 100 meters and 4×100 meters but the official roster is not yet set. Richardson is one of many athletes competing at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, starting on June 21. Her current mark of 10.65 seconds is the best of all the entrants, 0.12 seconds better than the next-best runner Jacious Sears.

Her most recent event was the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on May 25. She won the 100 meters by 0.1 seconds over Julien Alfred.
