David Moyes picking the same side as Sean Dyche highlights to me that the problem is the Everton squad. What other Premier League side would Young, Coleman, Patterson or Mykolenko get in? They’re either too old, lose the players they are supposed to be marking or can’t assist in attack. Or all three. Why haven’t we resolved this well known weakness?
Tarks and Branthwaite haven’t been as good as they were last season, but who do we have to replace them? Kean or O’Brien, who we paid a lot of money for instead of solving our larger problems in other areas of the side. What other Premier League side would Gueye or Doucoure get into? Too slow and prone to mistakes. Mangala might make the squad in some, but is he really first team material? The other midfielders we have, have all been injured far too much or too untried, like Armstrong who Moyes didn’t bring on.
Harrison and Lindstrom quite frankly wouldn’t even get into a Championship side. Both can’t get past the opposition or provide good crosses. O’Neil might get into one of the other sides in the relegation battle as his delivery is good but again not the quickest of players. Ndiaye is our best player so far this season, but is that because we have no one else? Good on the ball, but not sure he provides that final pass often enough.
WHERE’S THE CREATIVITY?
– Chermiti injured.
– Broja injured (again).
– DCL and Beto lack composure, confidence and supply.
Anyone else?
I think we should be taking a long hard look at our DOF. Yes, Dyche should have been involved in the team / squad recruitment, but it’s the DOF’s main responsibility. That, and bringing through our youngsters which hasn’t happened.
