Since its launch in 1960, Coronation Street is still going strong, and so is its central characters. Jane Danson has played Leanne Battersby for almost 20 years. But how much money has she amassed during that time?
A student at Radcliffe High School near Bury, Jane made her television debut at the age of 12.
At this time, she acted under the name Jane Dawson.
She played the part of Eileen Critchley in the 1991 Alan Bleasdale series GBH.
Next, from 1995 to 1997, she played the role of Paula in ITV’s drama Children’s Ward.
By this time, the actor had changed her surname to Danson.
In 1996, Jane also appeared in CBBC’s Out of Tune and, later, BBC’s Hetty Wainthropp Investigates.
In 1997, the 42-year-old landed the role of Leanne on Coronation Street.
Jane left the soap in 2000 before rejoining the cast in 2004.
She left again in 2006 when she became pregnant with her first child.
Jane is married to former Brookside actor Robert Beck, whom she began dating in 1999.
The couple met at the British Soap Awards and wed years later in December 2005.
Speaking about Robert and their marriage, Jane told OK! Magazine in 2018: “I’m not the world’s most confident person but I’d had a crush on Rob since I was 15, so I thought, I have to speak to him, it’s fate.
“Rob’s absolutely my best friend in the world. We’ve only had about two rows in twenty years.
“I’m not saying we don’t get on each other’s nerves sometimes but we’re a strong team and we’ve always allowed each other to be individuals.”
Robert played the role of Peter Harrison in Brookside in 1991, as well as Gavin Ferris in Emmerdale in 1999.
The couple’s eldest son is called Harry, while Sam was born in February 2009.
Jane has been cited a very talented actor and won the award for Best Dramatic Performance at the 2011 British Soap Awards.
In 1998, she was nominated for the Best Newcomer award at the National Television Awards in 1998.
