Whao! What a performance last night by Liverpool FC
Tactically, we were so superior that Spurs had no chance. We pressed and were unrelenting at the start, stayed focused and got the lead, controlled the match and hit them when it mattered to seal the game.
Kelleher – not much to do to be honest since no shots on target and he played the tempo according to what was needed and was decent with his distribution.
VVD – colossal and majestic, did the business at both ends of the pitch. It was too easy for him.
Konate – solid and made it looked easy to be honest.
Bradley – defended well, nice crunching tackle on Son and a brilliant assist, some loose passes, could have been better defensively in some situations but that’s just being harsh on the young lad.
Robbo – did what he needed to in defence and attack, maybe caught in no-man’s-land once, but solid and wasn’t in danger of being exposed, though he was probably up against their most dangerous player.
Ryan – smooth, the best word to describe his performance. He doesn’t really dominate the midfield like Viera used to, but he controls it in his own way and is enjoyable to watch.
Jones – thought he was decent, caught on the ball a few times but recovered well each time and he contributed to a dominant midfield display.
Sobz – MOM for me to be honest, did everything you expect of a dynamic CM and took his goals (including the offside one) decisively, which is what I hope to see more of.
Gakpo – always a threat when on the ball and took his goal really well.
Nunez – defensively he was awesome, protected our near post during corners so well and always willing to track back. Thought his awareness, decision making and touch were cool too today, and his pace and power always gave him the advantage in circumstances leading to earning the penalty.
Salah – beautiful assist, unstoppable penalty, always with the end product. Even if he did nothing else in the game, his outputs were always effective, leading to results which was more than enough.
Mac Allister – when we were on top, his offensive play was just a thing of beauty.
The game was somewhat over when the subs came on and maybe I was getting tired by then (match was 4am here) and didn’t notice much, but since our momentum wasn’t disrupted it just felt like we were so dominant and everyone did what they are supposed to do and helped us cruise to the end.
In the end, we totally dominated Spurs and none of their danger men did anything to unsettle us.
