With three of the four 2024 MLB wild-card playoff series ending in two-game sweeps, the stage is set for Game 3 between the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers Thursday night in Milwaukee. After clinching a playoff berth in the first game of a doubleheader on Monday, the Mets carried that momentum into a Game 1 win behind a strong outing from Luis Severino and two-RBI nights each from Mark Vientos, Jesse Winker and J.D. Martinez in the 8-4 victory.
On Wednesday night, rookie leadoff man Jackson Chourio saved the Brewers’ season with two home runs, including a game-tying solo shot in the eighth inning. Garrett Mitchell followed that up with his own two-run blast to bring the Brewers all the way back from a 3-1 deficit to win 5-3.
In Game 3, it’ll be Jose Quintana (10-10, 3.75 ERA) on the mound for the Mets against Tobias Myers (9-6, 3.00 ERA) for the chance to advance to the NLDS to take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.
