MLB trade deadline tracker: Live updates on all of the buyers and sellers as teams look to the postseason

The MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching — at 6 p.m. ET Tuesday — and there are some huge names that could be on the move to reshape the 2024 postseason race.

In the third year of MLB’s 12-team playoff era, more teams are in the mix than perhaps in any year in recent memory as the end of July approaches.

In the National League, just three teams are more than 5.0 games out of a playoff spot, and in the American League, just four squads are more than 6.0 games out of the postseason picture. It’s a competitive year across the board, with the Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers and other contenders all looking to add ahead of the stretch run.

Will they be moved? Which teams will be buyers, and which will be sellers? Stick with Yahoo Sports for all of the news, notes and moves at the 2024 MLB trade deadline.

While there hasn’t been a flurry of deals just yet heading toward the MLB Trade deadline, there have been some smaller moves happening as teams jockey for postseason positioning. On Monday, the Texas Rangers sent right-hander Michael Lorenzen to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for reliever Walker Pennington, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan. As of the reported trade, K.C. was in the final AL wild card spot, and six game out in the AL Central race.
