On 20th September 2024,38 colleagues from UK convenience retailer, One Stop, took part in a charity challenge through the Yorkshire Three Peaks for BBC Children In Need.
Raising a staggering £25,000 (and counting), colleagues climbed through the popular circular trail that covers the peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, and totals an impressive 25 miles. Almost 100 Trekkers from companies all over the UK took part but 38 colleagues were represented by One Stop, making almost half the hikers One Stop colleagues.
Claire Hoyle, Director of Income, Marketing and Communications at BBC Children in Need said expressed her thanks for One Stop colleagues: ‘‘We are thrilled that One Stop colleagues joined BBC Children in Need for the Three Peaks Challenge last week! One Stop are helping us to lighten the load for children when they need us most.”
The challenge was certainly liberating, mentally and physically exhausting and colleagues spent weeks training to prepare for the treacherous hike.
Children In Need, who has been a charity partner of One Stop for twelve years, support disadvantaged children and young people. Money raised helps to fund projects and initiatives across the country to help improve the lives of children facing a range of challenges such as poverty, trauma, disability or illness.
Jack Taylor, Community and Partnerships Manager at One Stop said: “Our colleagues are very passionate about raising money for BBC Children in Need and this challenge just shows their dedication. The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a very tough challenge, they trained and prepared for weeks and months in advance and we’re all so proud their endurance and achievements throughout the challenge. Their incredible fundraising total we know will help make life lighter for so many children across the UK.”
Callum Gleeson, Suzanna Jones and Shaun Sutton are all One Stop colleagues who chose to take part in the physical and mental challenge. They documented their journey along the way – you can take a look here: Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok.
