Rangers Players Review v Manchester United

Disappointed with how the game ended, but a closer game than I expected with a good few positives.

Butland: makes some saves, throws one in the net. Standard for him and why he’ll never be a top class goalkeeper. Nowhere near as good as billed, at fault for goals in most big games.

Tavernier: Fair play, I’m not his biggest fan but thought he had a good game, especially having to go into CB. Can’t fault him for much tonight.

Jefte: You can see just how far away he is in these games. Really poor from start to finish and at fault for another goal. Youth is on his side, shouldn’t be expecting the finished article at this level, but concerning he’s making the same/ similar mistakes against better players.

Propper: Didn’t do much wrong. Not the long-term answer by any means, but didn’t cost us anything tonight.

Balogun: Like the big man, but he’s made of biscuit these days. We need reinforcements in this position massively.

Raskin: Good again. Has a way to go, but has won me over. Build a team around him.

Barron: Decent, nothing more. Does his shift, but doesn’t offer much else.

Cerny: Didn’t do much, but has credit in the bank for recent performances.

Ridvan: Not a left winger or a right back. Very poor tonight, but hard to be too harsh on him given he’s doing what he can for the team.

Bajrami: Man short again. Offered nothing, miles off the pace.

Igamane: Worked hard, flashes of ability, makes poor decisions and at this level can see he’s still raw. Potential definitely there, though.

Rice: Needs to play more. Looked every bit a first team player. Composed on the ball, half a yard off it in the head defensively, but that only comes from playing games. If it were me, I’d be giving him games. We see enough every time he plays to see he has something.

McCausland: Worked his shift, but he’s gone backwards this season IMO. There’s a squad player in there and one of our own, but he’s not kicked in at all. This level is currently beyond him.

Curtis: Looked exactly what he is, playing about his third game and super raw. Ran about, made poor decisions with the ball, but good experience for him.

Dessers: Looks like he couldn’t trap a bag of cement at times then does that. Great finish. Still think he’s a good backup striker, but he doesn’t want that, so suspect he’ll leave. Hopefully that adds some money.

King: Not on enough to comment, really.

Overall, not too bothered by that. Poor way to lose it with two defensive mistakes, but hey ho. Learned a little about a few players, confirmed a few things about others.
