In just a couple of weeks, some of the country’s greatest culinary minds will descend upon Newport Beach, California.
Robb Report’s Culinary Masters event will take place this year in the coastal town, from May 17 to 19. Guests will have the opportunity to hobnob with and learn from chefs some of America’s best chefs. From a gala dinner to a cooking competition to mixology classes to a full-on food festival, the weekend is slated to have it all.
Located at the five-star Resort at Pelican Hill, the accommodations are well matched to the event itself. After checking in, guests will be treated to a welcome reception and silent auction on Friday evening, followed by a gala dinner where each course will be prepared by a different culinary master. That night will feature James Kent of Michelin two-starred Saga and Michelin-starred Crown Shy; the acclaimed chef of Le B Angie Mar (star of the video above); Genie Kwon and Tim Flores of Kasama, our 2022 Chefs of the Year and the minds behind the world’s first Michelin-starred Filipino restaurant; Eunji Lee the talented pastry chef behind Lysée; and Kyung Soo Carroll, the culinary director of the entire Pelican Hill Resort.
On Saturday, a leisurely morning gives guests the chance to unwind after the previous night’s feast, and serves as a welcome respite before indulging in more incredible meals. That afternoon, Mar is hosting a cooking class and competition, featuring Barnsley lamb chop with poached rhubarb and vanilla mint sauce. On Saturday night under the setting sun, another all-star collection of chefs will gather for a lively cookout. Normally, it’s a long line to get Daniel Castillo’s Heritage Barbecue, but at the cookout you’ll be able to stroll right up for some of his acclaimed brisket. Over at the wood-fired pizza ovens, Daniele Uditi of Pizzana will be slinging his signature pies; Edgar Rico is coming in from Austin’s Nixta Taqueria to serve some of the best tacos in the country; On Sunday, a fabulous Champagne brunch takes place at Lugano Diamonds’ flagship salon in Newport Beach—a luxe send-off to a food-filled weekend prepared by star chef Michelle Bernstein.
Culinary Masters 2024 marks the eighth year Robb Report is hosting the extravaganza, which to date has raised almost $2 million for charity. For the second year in a row, funds will go toward the V Foundation, which supports cancer research.
If you’re interested in attending, the full weekend experience is available for $6,900 per person, or $8,900 for couples. You can also attend individual events or days, with options available for just the gala dinner, the food festival, or all of Saturday’s events.
With up-close-and-personal access to some of the country’s best chefs, it’s not a weekend any gourmand would want to miss.
