I reckon this could be the biggest summer turnover Glasgow Rangers have had in a long time if it all goes the way I think it could with the amount of players the club wants to release and the offers I reckon that are going to land for some that we want to keep and may fail in doing so.
My only concern is Nils Koppen and whoever else is involved in player transfers are able to replace as many players as I think will need replacing to be a title winning side, or at least, a side capable of challenging. I’m not saying they can’t or won’t, but I do have reservations about it as it could turn out to be a massive overhaul, as we’ll also need player bedding in time and them getting to know each other etc.
Then we also have the challenge of trying to entice quality players to come to us in such a transition window, The ‘Takeover’ itself, new DOF being installed, a new management team and so many players needing replaced one way or another – that’s a lot of moving parts.
Dujon Sterling has not hit the heights expected, possibly down to injuries or his mentality has stalled as a Rangers player. I think a number of fans wanted or expected him to take James Tavernier’s place in the team going forward, but if Sterling is moved on in the summer, who is going to be our right back next season?
With Nicolas Raskin, I can honestly see an offer on the table for him in the summer and then I have to ask, who will be our captain next season as I expected Raskin would have taken the arm band. However, I have a feeling he won’t be here after a few good offers come in for him.
This Takeover hopefully will be concluded by June 2025, hopefully our DOF will be in place and also whoever the new management team will also be installed by late June. It’s actually potentially a massive summer when you take a step back and look at it and all the real possibilities that could happen over this current summer. The amount of moving parts that all need to come together by the start of the new season is a tall order.
In addition, the 49ers might also want some Board changes installing some of their own people. Tell you what, if they can pull it off, then hats off to them as the amount of cogs turning on all of the above is going to take some doing.
I’d like to know fans’ thoughts on all of the above; can we really pull it all off and get our number 1 targets in? Can we also get the players we don’t want to leave? Am I taking it too far or do you agree this is going to be one heck of a crazy summer in our club’s history? And do you have faith that it can be achieved so we’re challenging in the 25/26 season?
