Tom Daley will go from Olympic diver to television pundit at the Paris Olympics after joining Eurosport in their television head-to-head this summer with the BBC.
Just as in Tokyo, Eurosport and the streaming service Discovery+ will provide blanket coverage of the event across Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2, backed by seven dedicated Olympic pop up channels that will be dedicated to covering every event. The BBC remains more restricted and will have only two live broadcast streams after the International Olympic Committee awarded media rights in Europe to Warner Bros. Discovery, who own Eurosport.
Daley’s 10m synchronised platform final, where he will be partnered by Noah Williams to defend the Olympic title he won in 2021 with Matty Lee, is scheduled for the first Monday of the Games and he will then join Eurosport as a pundit for events off the diving boards that will stretch over the next nine days.
Orla Chennaoui, who is currently leading Eurosport’s Tour de France coverage, will present Bonjour Paris, a daily Olympic morning show from 7am. Each Olympic day will later be anchored by Laura Woods, who currently leads TNT Sports’ Champions League football action. Woods will also present coverage of the Paris 2024 opening ceremony alongside Craig Doyle on July 26 during what will be the biggest security operation in French history for a floating 6km celebration up the River Seine
As well as Daley, Eurosport’s experts will include James Cracknell, Carl Frampton, Ugo Monye, Lutalo Muhammad, Stef Reid, Laura Robson, Ellie Simmonds, Iwan Thomas and Nile Wilson.
“We have assembled an incredible cast of more than 100 of the greatest Olympians from across Europe to deliver top-class insight, analysis, and entertainment across 19 exciting days of competition,” said Scott Young, a senior vice-president at Warner Bros. Discovery.
While Daley will feature for Eurosport on diving, the BBC have signed up the TV personality Fred Sirieix, whose daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix is competing in 10m diving events. A familiar roster of BBC Sport presenters in Paris include Hazel Irvine, Gabby Logan, Clare Balding and Mark Chapman.
