Tyson Fury must exact revenge on former undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk before he can entice Anthony Joshua into an all-British showdown, says Spencer Brown.
The 35-year-old was hurt and outpointed by Usyk in May, with the Ukrainian becoming the division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis.
However, with a rematch set for December, Fury now has the opportunity to restore some excitement around a potential clash with domestic rival Joshua.
His manager, Brown, told Sky Sports: “There’s no collision course if he doesn’t win the next fight. So it’s imperative he beats Usyk.
“At his age I don’t know how much you can improve but there was very, very little in the fight between them, so let’s back our British guy and I’m sure he will win and then we’re going to talk about the next stage.”
Joshua, meanwhile, will collide with Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 21, looking to become a three-time world champion.
With Usyk recently vacating his IBF belt, Dubois, who was previously the interim title holder, will now enter the ring with full champion status.
Brown also revealed that Fury is keen to attend the event, showing his support for stablemate Dubois – with both heavyweights sharing Queensberry Boxing boss Frank Warren as their promoter.
Brown said: “I think Tyson just wants to see a good fight. Who will he back? Probably Daniel Dubois.”
