Watch U.S. Olympic swimming trials: TV schedule and how to live stream

Approximately six weeks out from the Paris Olympics, the country’s best swimmers will descend upon Indianapolis to vie for their spot on Team USA.

The 2024 Olympic Swimming Trials begin Saturday and run through June 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Home of the Indianapolis Colts, the NFL stadium has been converted into the country’s largest natatorium for the duration of the trials.

Across nine days of competition, the trials will include preliminary, semi-final and final rounds for each of the individual events that will be held in Paris. An athlete can qualify for a spot on Team USA by placing in the top two in any event, assuming they have achieved the Olympic Standard time necessary to compete at the 2024 Games. Additional swimmers can qualify for one of Team USA’s relay teams by finishing in third through sixth places in the 100m and 200m freestyle events.

USA Swimming does not award automatic qualifying spots, so these trials are the only opportunity for athletes to go to Paris. Team USA can send a maximum of 52 swimmers — 26 men and 26 women — to the Games, including relay competitors.

The trials will feature decorated Olympians, including seven-time Olympic gold medalists Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel, who look to make their fourth and third consecutive Olympic teams, respectively. The spotlight will also be on first-time Olympic hopefuls, such as breakout stars Dare Rose and Gretchen Walsh, both 21 years old.

The Paris Olympic Games are slated to begin July 26. The first swimming events will be contested July 27 at Paris’ La Défense Arena.
