Kim and Kanye picked really different and perfect names for their kids. The couple has four kids – two daughters and two sons. There is about two years difference between each of her kids, with the exception of the youngest one, Psalm, who’s close to a year younger than her 3-year-old daughter Chicago West. As divergent as the names are, they are not just to sound different. It is a fact that Kim has some peculiar reasons as to why she picked those exact names for her kids. Let us take a look at every reason why the 40-year-old mom chose her kids’ names and the meaning behind them.
North is Kim and Kanye’s first daughter. She was born on June 15, 2013, and is Kim’s first child with the rapper. From a faraway perspective, North West sounds like someone is trying to point in a direction. And even though that is pretty cool, it is not why the parents named their daughter North. Kim, who is popular for her dramatic scandals, said the name-picking process was pretty emotional for her. She said, “I know that North West is a very unique name. I was like, ‘I pray to God you can handle your name. I hope you are the name that I’m choosing.’” The reason behind the name North had more to do with the meaning behind the word. Kim said, “You can’t go higher than North.” It is why she named her daughter North as she believes it’s the ultimate height, and it resonates with her daughter.
It was all the way in 2015 when Saint was born on December 5. But, he was not named “Saint” because he was born close to Christmas. Kim earlier mentioned that people really become their name, which is why her son was named Saint. Besides, a friend of the family has revealed that Kanye “believes that people live up to their names, which is why he wanted a name with spiritual significance.” Another insider shared that the couple chose Saint because they viewed him as “a blessing.” Many Keeping Up With The Kardashians viewers would remember that Kim’s second pregnancy was pretty difficult. Saint is now 5 years old and looks like he is growing up so fast.
Kim’s third child & her second daughter was named Chicago. The SKIMS founder revealed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that this name was picked after discarding several family names. Kim told Ellen, “We were gonna name her Jo, ’cause [of] my grandma, Mary Jo. Or we were gonna go with Grace — and then it was Chicago.” Many Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans may have guessed it right. She is named after the city. The reason her name was Chicago is that the place means a lot to Kanye. The 43-year-old singer was born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago. So, that is a place that he remembers his family from.
The youngest son of Kim and Kanye was born right May 19, 2019. He was named Psalm soon after, which means “song” in Hebrew. Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, revealed that the inspiration was the “Book of Psalms in the Bible.” Referencing Kim and Kanye’s dedication to the Christian faith, she continued, “I think it’s just a wonderful way to celebrate how they feel. And he’s such a blessing, so it’s perfect.” Someone else shared that the reason behind Psalm’s name was his father’s new spiritual journey and a passion for his Christian faith. It is interesting to see how perfect Kim and Kanye’s kids’ names are. Although the couple is now separating, and Kanye appears to be dating Irina Shayk, their name-picking process would inspire many Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans to come up with their baby names.
